I have only had this vacuum for a couple months, but I have been really happy with it (especially for the price). It sucks up a lot of dirt and hair, and I haven't had any problems with it. It certainly does better than my old canister vacuum. Don't forget that there is a filter just below the dirt canister that needs to be cleaned periodically. When it arrived, it was easy to put together (you just need a screwdriver and a little muscle). So far, I would recommend this vacuum to others. I can't comment on its longevity however.
